Walled Lake Northern’s Lyla Turmell wins Senior League Softball World Series

Walled Lake Northern senior Lyla Turmell raised the World Series championship plaque over the weekend in Sussex County, Delaware with her teammates after a dominating performance in the championship game.
Turmell and the Michigan District 4 Little League team, which is based out of Grand Blanc, shutout Delaware, 10-0, in the championship game capping their perfect 7-0 showing in the World Series. Along with throwing a no-hitter against Delaware, they won all but one game by run rule. Turmell, who pitches and plays first base, represented the Central Region at the World Series.
In the Central Regional Championship Tournament, her team played out of their minds going 4-0 en route to the title and did not allow a single run. In four games, they outscored their opponents an incredible 59-0.
Turmell, who was a Division 1 All-Stater this spring, has committed to play softball at Toledo.
